Signature proven counterfeit
Oil on canvas, depicting girl with a platter of fruit, signed "A. Tolstoy", 62x50 cm. Part of a large seizure of counterfeit art from the 1980's. In the painting's lower right corner is an area that is painted with new paint and then have the forger painted a new signature. The painting is not painted by Tolstoy, but the blond light that is typical of Tolstoy. The painting are probably made by a professional artist. In examining with infrared light appears the remains of an over-painted signature in the painting's lower right corner.

Oil on canvas, signed "A Tolstoy". Part of a large seizure of counterfeit art from the 1980's. An over-painting has been in the painting's lower right corner, and Tolstoy's signature has since been painted on top of the processed area. Prosecutor relied a photograph obtained by examination with infrared light. The photograph shows the contour of another signature. Maybe this could be "Bounivier". The district court's assessment: The Tolstoy-signed painting is painted by Tolstoy nor signed by him.
