Signature proven counterfeit
Oil on canvas, scene with moose head, signed "EB", size 29x36 cm. The painting was submitted to a major auction house in Stockholm in October 2012 for sales. It was cataloged as a genuine work. The auction house contacted the police on the grounds that the artist himself (Ernst Billgren) contacted the auction house and announced that he not performed this painting. During the police investigation testified Ernst Billgren that he not performed the painting. It was a forgery. The owner had bought the painting of a small auction house in central Sweden for 3,600 SEK (about 370 euros). It was cataloged as as "Unknown Artist".
