Belgischer Genremaler. Schüler von David, später von Joseph Paelincks, galt als einer der besten Schüler Davids. Wurde als Maler von Familienszenen berühmt. Erhielt eine Professur an der Brüsseler Akademie. Werke seiner Hand in mehreren öffentlichen Museen, etwa Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Brüssel etc. Zahlreiche Ölbilder seiner Hand wurden in Lithografien vervielfältigt.

Received a professorship at the Academy in Brussels.
