Judith Becker received a BS in Design, Certificate in Education, University of Michigan and MS in Education, Monmouth University. Her professional work history includes teaching art grades K – 12, designing and teaching needlework techniques, and a long career in Human Resources with Citigroup. She retired from Citigroup in 2003, moved with husband to Alpine Lake, Terra Alta, WV in 2004, and there has established an art group which meets every Friday afternoon and at which she guides, encourages and offers instruction to the participants.
She is a member of the Garrett County (Maryland) Arts Council and exhibits and sells her paintings at their Oakland, MD gallery Judith also exhibits her paintings at the Alpine Lake Lodge. In addition she has exhibited and sold her art work at the annual Alpine Lake Oktoberfest, the Alexandria, VA juried “Art on the Avenue” and at the juried Garrett County Autumn Glory Harvest Festival.
She is a member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society and has been accepted by jury to exhibit paintings in the 2006 and 2007 annual state exhibits and their annual all member annual exhibit. In 2007 she received two prestigious awards in the juried exhibit – a 1st place ribbon and a certificate of excellence for her “Closed Gentians” painting and a 2nd place prize, certificate of merit for “Misty Morning in Paris”.
Judith specializes in colored pencil painting, pastels and watercolor and primarily paints landscapes, florals, still lifes, and portraits. She paints full sheet sized works as well as miniatures and every size in between and has produced note cards and prints of many of her pieces.
