Peintre parisien, Lucien Genin est né en 1894 et décédé en 1953. Il étudie tout d'abord aux Beaux-Arts de Rouen sous la direction d'Albert et Alphonse Guiloux, aux côtés d'Alfred Dunet et Michel Fréchon. Il s'installe ensuite à Paris où il étudie aux Arts Déco, puis il s'établie au Bateau-Lavoir, célèbre lieu de résidence des artistes de Montmartre. Il représente des vues de Montmartre, le Sacré-Coeur, mais également Notre-Dame, l'Opéra Garnier et les bords de Seine. Il se lie avec de nombreux artistes montmartrois puis voyage dans le sud de la France en leur compagnie. En 1932, il reçoit le Prix de l'Art Institute de Chicago. A Cassis, il se lie d'amitié avec le photographe Robert Doisneau et meurt peu de temps après.
