Ludwig von Hofmann, deutscher Maler, Grafiker und Gestalter, studierte ab 1883 an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Dresden, später bei Ferdinand Keller an der Kunstakademie Karlsruhe, 1889 an der Académie Julian in Paris, Einfluss der französischen Künstler Pierre Puvis de Chavannes und Paul-Albert Besnard, in Berlin gehörte er zur "Gruppe der Elf" mit Max Klinger, Illustrator der Jugenstilzeitung "Pan", Mitglied der "Berliner Secession“, 1903 Professor an der Großherzoglichen Kunstschule in Weimar und 1916 an der Kunstakademie in Dresden).
