Signature proven counterfeit
Oil on panel, signed Massino Campigli, 44x18 cm. The painting was presented to a major auction houses in central Sweden by a private citizen for sale, estemated price: 140.000-160.000 SEK. The painting was bought for 50.000 SEK of a foreign art dealer who immediately gave the painting to a foreign auction house. They doubted the authenticity of the painting and it was condemned as a forgery of the artist's son Nicola Campigli. The painting was returned to the Swedish auction house who then repaid the sum to the buyer. The former Swedish owners (the submitter) was consulted by the police and stated that at the end of 2007 purchased the painting in London for 33.000 SEK.
