Mel Bochner
Bochner was born in 1940 in Pittsburgh and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1962. His first exhibition in 1966 at the School of Visual Arts, New York, is considered to be one of the first Conceptual Art exhibitions. In the 1970’s Bochner shifted to painting and used unconventional materials. Since 1964 he has lived and worked in New York City. He has exhibited widely in the United States and Europe and his work is represented in the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris.
