Otmar Alt ist heute einer der erfolgreichsten deutschen Künstler der Gegenwart.
1960 beginnt Otmar Alt sein Kunststudium an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin und wird Meisterschüler bei Prof. Hermann Bachmann.
Die Kunstszene dieser Zeit wird vom abstrakten Expressionismus (Informell), beherrscht. Aus der Abstraktion heraus fand Otmar Alt seinen eigenen Weg. Schon früh entdeckt man in seinen Bildern zaghaft angedeutete Figuren und Zeichen, die er schließlich mit phantasiereichen Titeln auf neue Bedeutungsebenen hebt (z.B. Baldi der Fröhliche 1965, Bildnis des König Wolke mit seiner grünen Ziege 1966). Zugleich wird seine Vorliebe für intensive Farben und bald auch für klar definierte Formen und Konturen aus der Tier- und Pflanzenwelt ersichtlich.

The art scene this time of abstract expressionism (informally), dominated. From the abstract realm Otmar Alt found his own way. Early discovered in his pictures supposed timid characters and characters that he finally with imaginative songs to new levels of meaning highlights (such as the Merry Baldi 1965, effigy of the king cloud with its green goat 1966). At the same time, his penchant for intense colors and soon also for well-defined shapes and contours from the flora and fauna.
