Born in Russia in 1890, Sergei Zalikson moved to Paris in 1914 to further his artistic education. After studying at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Zalikson rented out Auguste Rodin's former studio at 5 rue Larray. From the 1920s on, Zalikson participated in a variety of exhibitions in France and abroad, including London's Whitechapel gallery, where his work was featured in the 1921 exhibition of Russian art.
