Sven-Olov Ehrén studerade vid Otte Skölds målarskola och Konstakademien. Som bildkonstnär har han en mustig kolorit och träsnittet blev hans teknik. Han har skapat många svart-vita illustrationer till böcker men också färglitografier, ofta från Arkö, Han har även gett ut ett antal portföljer med Stockholmsmotiv. Många grafiska blad i samarbete med FIB:s Konstklubb, Bokkonsum, Handelsanställdas förbund och Konstfrämjandet. Genom åren tecknat bokomslag till ca 700 böcker och illustrerat ett 100-tal, stått för scenografi och kostymer till ett 70-tal teateruppsättningar samt tecknat förlagor till ca 70 frimärken. Han har under åren tilldelats många konstpriser.
