Biografi
Under kunststudierne begynder Trotzig at rejse udenlands, Frankrig og Italien er især yndet rejsemål og han bliver stærkt inspireret af Henri Matisse. Han bliver gode venner med mange af kunstnerne fra COBRA-gruppen og knyttede især venskaber med Asger Jorn, Karel Appel og Pierre Alechinsky og derudover Yasse Tabuchi som var kommet til Paris fra Japan. Trotzig var imidlertid ikke den type kunstner som søgte gruppefællesskab indenfor kunstretningerne og han valgte - præcis som i dag - at arbejde alene. I 1950 får han sin første udstilling og i 1953 begynder han at arbejde med grafik og hans værker bliver efterspurgt over hele Europa, hvilket fører til talrige udstillinger og med anerkendelsen stiger efterspørgslen i bl.a. Japan, Indien, Grækenland og Syd og Nordamerika og mange flere lande.
En kraftig farvevækst kendetegner Ulf Trotzig’s malerier, midt inde i den virvlende vildskab findes også sårbar ømskindethed og malerierne antyder flertydighed og mystisk og perspektivet skifter mellem nærbillede og overblik. Mange af hans malerier har naturen og fugle som motiv og det aktive og tidløse kendetegner hans billedverden, hvor bevægelse og forvandling bliver til penselstrøg som virker som følsomme nervetråde gennemstrømmet af et flydende livs lys.

Biography
During his art studies, begins Trotzig to travel abroad, France and Italy are particularly favorite destinations and he is strongly inspired by Henri Matisse. He becomes good friends with many of the artists from the COBRA-Movement, especially with Asger Jorn, Karel Appel and Pierre Alechinsky and besides them, Yasse Tabuchi who had come to Paris from Japan. Ulf Trotzig however was not the type of artist who sought the group company within the styles of art and chose - precisely as today - to work alone. In 1950 he gets his first exhibition and in 1953 begins to work with graphic and his artwork is in demand all over Europe, which leads to numerous exhibitions and with the recognition, raises the demand in Japan, India, Greece, South and North America and many other countries.
A powerful growth of colours is the trademark in Ulf Trotzig´s paintings, in the midst of the twirling wildness there is also a vulnerable sensitiveness and the paintings indicate ambiguity and mystical and the perspective changes between close up and a general view. Many of his paintings has the nature and birds as motifs and the active and timeless characterizes his picturesque world, where movement and transformation becomes brushstrokes which works as sensitive nerve threads run through by a floating light of life.
