William Henry Davis was a London painter of sporting and animal subjects. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, British Institute and the Suffolk Street Gallery. Many of his Royal Academy exhibitions were commissioned portraits of horses, dogs and other favourite animals. He was appointed Animal Painter to King William IV in 1837.
