Carl Josef Alexandersson föddes 1887 i Motala och dog redan 1941 till följd av högt blodtryck. Han och hans två syskon, Gustav och Märta, blev alla konstnärer och bildade tillsammans gruppen "Nio Unga", vilken ställde ut på Liljevalchs 1926.
De tre syskonen ställde själva ut tillsammans på Konstnärshuset i Stockholm 1938. Alexandersson målade naivt och realistiskt med starka kontraster. Ömsom skildrade han, i en dov färgskala, det hårda livet för fattiga arbetare på fabriker och ömsom drömde han sig bort till Edens lustgård som befolkas av exotiska djur eller ett myller av folk i karnevalsstämning.
