Der Maler besuchte in den Jahren zwischen 1920 und 1926 mehrere Kunstschulen in Venedig, 1939 war er in Mailand, 1943 in Rom tätig. Zunächst in der Resistenz tätig, war er nach 1945 Mitbegründer der Künstlergruppe „Art Club“, 1946 der „Fronte Nuovo delle Arti“ und 1957 der „Forma 1“. Er arbeitete zusammen mit den Künstlern Basaldella, Vedova, Santomaso oder Moreni. 1958 nahm er an der Biennale von Venedig teil, ein Jahr später an der Documenta II in Kassel. Sein Malstil bewegt sich in den Ausdrucksformen zwischen Abstraktion und Gegenständlichkeit, sein Stil wurde gelegentlich als der eines „Surrealistischen Automatismus“ bezeichnet.
