Lars Eklind föddes i Stockholm 1932 men flyttade redan i 9-årsåldern till Göteborg. Tidigt uppmuntrades han av teckningsläraren Harald Skogsberg på Hvitfeldtska. Västkusten, inte minst Orust och Hälleviksstrand har varit och är viktiga inspirationskällor för hans måleri. Konstnärer som betytt mycket för Lars Eklind är Eric Ahlsmark från Skåne, Göteborgsmålaren Filip Wahlström och Saralisa Ryd. Bland separatutställningarna kan nämnas Galleri AE 1979, 81, 84 och 86. Tillsammans med målaren Eric Ström har han haft ett 20-tal utställningar.
