Blanc settled since 1829 at the Academy in Berlin and was trained as a painter in 1833 to Düsseldorf, where he became a pupil of Julius Hübner and later opened his own studio. Along with portraits painted Blanc genre pictures that hit the taste of the Biedermeier period and were very popular. Its existing in several versions picture "The church-goer," which depicts a young woman in front of the Cologne cathedral was unfinished at that time, to print graphics and objects (eg coffee cups) until now often copied. Blanc was also a successful architect and designed the Social House at the Düsseldorf Kunstverein "Paintbox".
