Han studerade vid Caleb Altins målarskola i Stockholm 1918 och 1919 deltog Otte Sköld vid utställningarna på Liljevalchs Konsthall med flertalet kubistiska målningar. Responsen blev omedelbar - succé! Konstnären nådde nu sitt stora genombrott på den svenska konstscenen.
