Signature proven counterfeit
Oil on wood panel "partying couples", 60x36 cm, signed Sergei Sudeikin. The painting was referred to an auction house in a Swedish city for sale, estimated price SEK 30.000-40.000. The painting was sold for SEK 115.000 to a Russian buyer. After study in Moscow and at the Tretyakov Gallery (museum), it was found that the painting is a forgery and not performed by Sudeikin. The buyer went back to the auction house which repaid the sum. Although auction house's own expert on Russian art has judged the painting. The seller has been asked to repay the amount received but objected to it.
