Thomas Bayrle biography:

Thomas Bayrle was born in Berlin, when his father, the artist Alf Bayrle, was living and working in the capital. Between 1958 and 1961 he studied at the Werkkunstschule in Offenbach, where he was trained in printmaking and specialized in the techniques of lithography and etching. In 1961, Bayrle and his artist friend Bernhard Jäger founded the publishing house ‘Gulliver-Presse’, which enabled him to establish himself as a printer and publisher of artist’s books. From 1975 to 2002 Bayrle held a professorship at the Städel School in Frankfurt/Main. His works have been exhibited in a number of internationally renowned and were repeatedly presented at the documenta in Kassel. The artist has been awarded many times and his works can be found in collections such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum Folkwang in Essen, the ZKM Karlsruhe and the Sammlung zeitgenössischer Kunst der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Bonn. Thomas Bayrle still lives and works in Frankfurt.
