Wilhelmina (Mina) Carlson-Bredberg studerade först för Kerstin Cardon och Amanda Sidvall, sedan på Académie Julian (1883-1887) och hos Carolus Duran (1888-1890) i Paris. Efter hemkomsten var hon 1893-95 lärarinna vid Elisabeth Keysers målarskola. Hon var ledamot av Konstnärsförbundet (1890-1897) och av Svenska konstnärernas förening (1891). Mot slutet av 1890-talet lämnade hon sitt realistiska måleri och övergick till en visionär expressionism vilket gör henne till en betydelsefull målarinna i sin generation.
