Clark was a student at the Art Students League of New York studying with Kenneth Hayes Miller and worked briefly at Forbes Magazine as an illustrator. Clark worked in the early 1930's for Donald Deskey as a muralist for the Radio City Music Hall in Rockefeller center. He returned to his birth state of Florida and taught at the Ringling School of Art.
