Theo McNab is a self-taught painter, known principally for abstract, minimalist landscapes. Solo exhibitions include the David Hendriks Gallery (1973, 75, 80) and the Cork Arts Society Gallery (1976). He represented Ireland at the Cagnes-sûr-Mer painting festival in 1975, and has participated in group shows in California, England, Italy, Germany, Japan and China. He won the Living Art Exhibition\'s Carroll\'s Award in 1971, the Waterford Glass Painting Prize in 1973, and the Scott Tallon Walker Prize at the Oireachtas Exhibition in 1976. He was the head of fine arts at the National College of Art & Design from 1988 to 2000.
