Don Patterson is a nationally recognized watercolorist. He has exhibited in museums and galleries from coast to coast, Japan and Canada and is a consistent award winner in regional, national and international juried exhibitions. He has been elected to membership in the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, Allied Artists of America, Audobon Artists, Inc., and the Pennsylvania Water Color Society, where he served seventeen years on the Board of Directors. He is also listed in the Millenium Edition of Who's Who in America. Patterson was featured in the December 1987 issue of American Artist Magazine and on PBS Television's "Outdoor Pennsylvania" in 1988. In 1990 he was selected a winner in American Artist Magazine competition in "Preserving Our Natural Resources". He was also featured in the December 1990 issue of U.S. Art Magazine. He was one of ninety top American watercolorists chosen for Splash II, Splash IV and Splash V published by North Light and The Artists' Magazine special issue called Watercolor Magic. His articles "Drawing With Paint" and "Getting the Light Right" appeared in the Spring, 1995 and May, 1998 issues of Watercolor Magic and The Artists' Magazine respectively. In 1997 his work was selected for three books by Rockport Publishers: "Best of Watercolor 2", "Painting Lights and Shadow" and "Painting Texture". He is one of nine artists who collaborated on a book titled "The Many Moods of Light" that was published by North Light in January 1999. He has written his own book titled "Creating Watercolor Landscapes Using Photographs" also to be published by North Light in May 2000. Don and his wife Margie currently reside in picturesque New Hope, Bucks County in Eastern Pennsylvania.
